It is an offence to keep, possess, sell, acquire or manufacture a silencer, which is defined as any implement designed to suppress the sound caused by the discharge of a firearm, whether or not the implement forms part of the firearm or can be attached to, or removed from, the firearm.
You may possess a detachable firearms magazine if it falls within the category of licence for which you are authorised, however you must not possess a detachable firearms magazine that is:
- capable of holding more than 5 rounds of ammunition and designed or adapted for use with a self-loading centre-fire rifle
- capable of holding more than 10 rounds of ammunition and being used in a pump-action centre-fire rifle
- capable of holding more than 10 rounds of ammunition and being used in a lever-action centre-fire rifle
- capable of holding more than 15 rounds of ammunition and being used in a bolt-action centre-fire rifle.
